Slumdog Millionaire-Poster/DVD Cover.

This is the Slumdog Millionaire Poster which was used to advertise the movie. This image was the same for the dvd cover . It depicts two of the main characters looking happy surrounded by confetti plus the who wants to be a millionaire question layout at the bottom of the page shows the theme of the movie. This image depicts happieness and joy but this can be misleading as alot of the film focuses on harships around living in the slums of mumbai where you see graphic scenes of injustice and illegality of the way slum children where treated and the lives they lead. The top section of the poster is the most noticeable in my opinion it says "The Feel-Good Film of the Decade" followed with 5 stars This will only help the popularity and sale of the movie as audiences love to feel good when watching a movie, also the actors on image look very happy and proud this also emphasizes what the text on the poster says.

Avatar Exhibition Production Distribution

Avatar is a 2009 film Directed by James Cameron the film has broken many boundaries when it comes to film making and it also breaks the boundaries for special effects as well. The film was received very well by the global audiences and its success has been phenomenal. The film has actors such as Sam Worthington Sigourney Weaver Joe Saldana and other lesser known stars. Avatar broke the barriers of many different aspects of the film industry the main aspects being budget and visual effects which is the main reason for the large budget which was in the reigon of 300-500 million dollars but the true amount of money spent and made is very vague due to the true amounts being hidden by many members of the cast and crew. The film went on to create an overall income of 2 billion dollars in 2 months of the film launch. James Cameron Started the development of avatar 10 years ago and has spent all his time and skills creating this goliath of a film. the film could be watched in standard 2d or the viewing experienced could be enhanced by watching it in 3D. Cameron developed his own technology and cameras to give his film an edge this was the Reality camera system. If We compare this to the recent feature Slum-dog millionaire which i looked at, the majority of the areas of film covered are completely different. The budget was only 2 million compared to the jaw dropping sum of around 400 million. Cameron's Determination to push the film to the edge visually he needed to develop 2D and 3D Without the headaches that were associated when watching 3 hours 3D film. Cameron's Determination took him to japan where he persuaded sony to re-engineer a camera to his specifications they changed the camera by changing the cpu and making it allot lighter.

Media Essay

Film 4 is an institute which has produced numerous quality films e.g slum dog millionaire and trainspotting. Film 4  is known for its use of both unknown and well known actors. which brings a fresh look and style to most of their films which are poignant but subtle.

Budget is vital for any film and film company as the size of the budget determines what can be used or created in the film at the expense of the people who have invested the money. film 4 are mainly known for having reasonable budgets but not on the scale as some of the major american films companies. But it must be remembered that a film company is a business and as with any business the prime prerogative is to make money as well as to create a film that attracts attention and does extremely well.

Some of the films that have been produces by film 4 are trainspotting and slum dog millionaire are both directed by danny Boyle and have both been very successful. film for to me produces alot of films which have dark suburban sets and locations which adds to the mise-en-scene of their features, which can be a major selling point for the movies but not all of their films are like this film 4 have produced many feel good films and funny comedies such as Borat and east is east.

Film 4 broadcasts from 11:00 am to about 8:45 am showing continuous movies created by them selfs and promoted on their own channel. Film 4 did not originally focus on broadcasting big budget movies, but nowadays broadcasts mainly mainstream Hollywood products such as "Saw". The channel frequently has themed nights or seasons in which a number of films centered around one genre, e.g 50 films to see before you die. As Channel 4 also owns a film production company, it shows many of its productions.

To alert the public to it going free-to-air, Film 4 launched a massive campaign directed by kevin spacey featuring major celebrities advertising Film 4 in odd ways. The slogan of the campaign was films for free which of course caught the eye of the british film watching public as great films for free was a hit.

Film 4 was originally known as Film Four and became Channel 4's second channel. when it launched on the 1st of november It was a subscription-only service available on satellite television via Sky, and most UK cable based services. It would cost £5.99 or £6.00 a month, eventually rising to up to £7. The launch night, which was also broadcast on Channel 4, was hosted by Johnny vaughn and the first film to be shown was What’s eating gilbert grape this was a massive hit and has drawn audiences ever since.

Later, additional channels were added, Film Four World and Film Four Extreme. Film Four World and Extreme were discontinued in 2003 after and replaced by Film Four Weekly, which screened four films across the week at the same time each day to make it easier to catch a film at least once. Film Four Weekly ceased broadcasting on 19th of july 2006 when the subscription service ended.

There was a preview of borat before the film release at the san diego comic con event which is an event dedicated to comics and characters from lots of different genres and borat proved to be a hit.

Borat - Production

The production of the film Borat was not straight forward. during the filming the cast and crew had to endure many different setbacks and problems due to the nature of the film. The majority of the film was unscripted and was off the cuff comedy and securing as many release form signatures as possible was the only way they could show others in the film with there consent. During the production they were stopped by police many times and after the film they had numerous law suits filed against them and have since had to pay some compensation to the village which was where Borat's home was supposedly.
